Xiomara Acevedo is an internationalist and climate change activist from Colombia. She is the founder and director of Barranquilla +20, a youth-led N.G.O. with a mission to empower children and youth in climate change, biodiversity and water in Colombia and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. She coordinates the Global Youth Biodiversity Network in Colombia and the Women for Climate Justice project. She has received qualifications in climate finance from the Frankfurt School of Management and Finance. a Gates Foundation Generation Equality youth grantee and One Young World ambassador.

She is co-lead of the 2021 British Educational Research Association Research Commission, which takes a participatory and inclusive approach to understanding youth and teacher perspectives on education for environmental sustainability.

Previously, she was director of Smithsonian Global’s Office of International Relations and global program. The environment has always played a massive part in all his past employment roles as he sought to engage young people with activities dependent on clean, healthy environments. He has an honors degree in management and tourism from the University of Glasgow. He currently sits on the boards of Ocean Youth Trust Scotland and Remembering Srebrenica Scotland.

David Hope-Jones OBE is the chief executive of the Scotland-Malawi Partnership, the national network which coordinates, represents and supports the many civic links between these two nations. Within this network of 1,200 civic connections there are over 250 school members; primary and secondary schools in Scotland, many with active, dignified, two-way partnerships with schools in Malawi.

Peter Higgins is professor of outdoor, environmental and sustainability education at University of Edinburgh, and was recently awarded the university’s highest award for teaching. He is director of Learning for Sustainability Scotland, which is recognized by the United Nations University. He has advised Scottish and other governments on sustainability education, and chaired the Scottish government's committees between 2012 and 2016, which introduced learning for sustainability as an entitlement of all learners. He chairs the board of trustees of the Field Studies Council, as well as the Scientific Advisory Committee of NatureScot, the Scottish government’s natural heritage agency.

Lauren Hyams is head of the Urban Nature Program (UNP) at the Natural History Museum , working to transform the museum’s outdoor space into an exemplar of urban wildlife research, conservation and awareness. Leading a coalition of museums and wildlife organisations, the UNP will create an urban nature movement through a U.K.-wide learning program for young people, families and schools. She has designed a range of high-impact learning programs for the Raspberry Pi Foundation, the Imperial War Museum, the Prince’s Trust and the Houses of Parliament.

Sophia Kianni is a 19-year-old climate activist studying climate science and public policy at Stanford University. She is the founder and executive director of Climate Cardinals, an international nonprofit with 8,000 volunteers in 41 countries working to translate climate information into 100 languages. Rosemary Luckin is professor of Learner Centered Design at UCL Knowledge Lab. She was named one of the 20 most influential people in British education in the Seldon List, 2017. She is the founder of EDUCATE Ventures Research, a London hub for start-ups, researchers and educators developing evidence-based educational technology. She is a former president and the current treasurer of the International Artificial Intelligence in Education Society and co-founder of the Institute for Ethical AI in Education. Her 2018 book, “Machine Learning and Human Intelligence: The Future of Education for the 21st Century,” describes how A.I. supports teaching and learning.

Charlotte Muller-Stuart is an 18-year-old climate activist who has been very proactive in the youth climate movement in Scotland. She has been invited to several meetings with and by the country’s first minister to discuss the climate crisis and the inaction of the government. Elsewhere, she has appeared before the Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Trade Union Congress and as a speaker at the annual Youth Climate Summit at Beyond Borders International Festival. During the summer of 2021, before starting a degree in sustainable development at St Andrews University, she worked at Beyond Borders Scotland to develop ideas and workshops for the second Youth Climate Summit, which was held at its Festival in August.She is also part of the Generation Climate Initiative.

Professor Dave Reay is chair in carbon management and education at the University of Edinburgh and executive director of the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute. He recently led the development of a suite of open-access courses on climate change aimed at young people around the world.

She is also managing editor of Routes – The Journal for Student Geographers. Recent research on education for environmental sustainability has been funded by the British Educational Research Association, while the Economic and Social Research Council has funded an 18-month project to support teachers who trained during the Covid-19 pandemic.
