THE GREENHOUSE

Virtual Tour: The Consequences of Climate Change

April 18, 2020

When the coronavirus hit Hong Kong, our international climate photo exhibition, Carbon’s Casualties, was forced to close early so we worked with the K11 Art Foundation to develop a virtual tour of the exhibition that can be viewed from anywhere in the world.

In the second episode of The Greenhouse, our digital event series about climate change, you can experience the exhibition with Josh Haner, a New York Times Pulitzer Prize-winning staff photographer; Derek Watkins, a graphics editor at The New York Times; and Whitney Richardson, former New York Times photo editor, as they walk you through stunning images of the consequences of a warming planet.

This year marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, which launched on April 22, 1970. But with millions of people around the world practicing social distancing, how will communities rally around this milestone anniversary? We created The Greenhouse, a five-part virtual event series to learn about climate change and the challenges facing our planet while at home. It was an opportunity to connect with the wider climate community, explore pressing issues with leading New York Times journalists and maintain momentum on climate action during this uniquely challenging time in human history.
